About the Author
Alex Hirsch is a writer, animator, voice actor, and director. He is best known for creating Gravity Falls on Disney XD. He was raised in Piedmont, California, and received a BFA in Character Animation from The California Institute of the Arts. He currently lives in Los Angeles, and is at work developing projects for Film & TV.
Rob Renzetti is the creator of the Nickelodeon series My Life As a Teenage Robot. He has worked as a producer, director, storyboard artist, and writer on shows such as Gravity Falls, My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, Dexter's Laboratory, Powerpuff Girls, Samurai Jack, Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, and Family Guy.

Andy Gonsalves is a designer, illustrator, and storyboard artist who works in the wonderful world of television animation. In addition to his work on popular shows such as Gravity Falls and Uncle Grandpa, Andy is also known for his original designed T-shirts which are worn by people around the world.
Stephanie Ramirez, a Los Angeles native, has worked in the animation industry as a character designer and freelance artist since 2007. Her credits include television shows such as Gravity Falls, Clarence, and Rick and Morty. ARE YOU HERE TO STEAL MY EYES

Honestly I was just expecting a weird little "Disney product" book with like show trivia and just one or two pages from the show but oh. My. God. This thing is a beast and I'm so happy? I'm so content with this book. This was everything I wanted and more. I'm just so happy with it I can't even explain it. It's massive and incredible and the quality is amazing I would have happily paid twice the price for it. I'm elated as hell. Thank you. I highly recommend this to anyone who enjoyed the show kids and adults alike.

Note: do not leave open while cats are about.

Amazing quality and replica of the show!

You can really see how much time and effort went into creating this journal. It is an EXACT replica of what is on the show. Its really amazing, especially for the price. It's really good quality and I recommend this to anyone who watches Gravity Falls or even hasn't seen it yet.

P.S.- Dippers real name is actually said in this. If you can't find it, its on the page called "The True Theory of Weirdness" towards the end of the book :)

The procedures in ASCE 7-10 Section 12.9 and Chapter 16 are more complicated than the Equivalent Lateral Force Procedure, but are required to be used under certain conditions of irregularity, occupancy, and height. Over the years, many questions have been asked about code provisions concerning these procedures and this seminar has been created to answer these questions and demystify the application of the code. Although ASCE 7-10 (the 2012 IBC) formally recognizes modal response spectrum analysis as well as seismic response history analyses, the modal response spectrum analysis is still more common in design office usage and is the primary subject of this seminar. The background and details are explained in Part I of this seminar where a step-by-step analysis procedure is introduced, and a three-story, one-bay frame example is begun to be solved entirely manually to illustrate application of the procedure. The manual solution of the three-story, one-bay frame example is completed in Part II of this seminar, the remainder of which is devoted exclusively to the detailed design of a 20-story reinforced concrete shear wall-frame building. Modal response spectrum analysis is used as the basis of design. Design utilizing the Equivalent Lateral Force Procedure is also illustrated because it is basically a prerequisite to design using the Model Response Spectrum Analysis Procedure.

Eye opening first-person accounts from sweatshop workers

The stories in this book are compelling and deserve to be told in a way that makes them accessible to the average reader. Unfortunately, this book feels more like the first draft of a college thesis.

The material is important and worth the read. The narrative is difficult to follow and lacks cohesion. Throughout the book, I felt as if I were reading paragraphs constructed of 3x5 card notes strung together, one after another, and not always in a coherent sequence.

The author refers to the women she interviews and their stories in the past tense, often with passive voice, making their stories much less accessible. Both the women and their stories deserve better.

That said, the topic is of vital importance to any of us in the west, for we are the recipients of the cheap food and goods the women produce, often in slavery or near slavery conditions, and never in conditions most of us would care to endure.

Every socially conscious citizen should read this book and become aware of the high human costs buried in the cheap--and the not so cheap--goods we purchase.

A more sinister side of globalization

Miriam Ching Yoon Louie has a literary talent in exposing the ill effects of globalization on poor women of color in the American garment industry. Focusing on Chinese, Korean, and Mexican immigrants she documents how their labor is continuously being exploited without regard to their personal well-being. Transnational corporations seek their labor because it is cheap. It is these women who are the backbones of the forces of globalization and their stories need to be told. An added strength of this book is that the author doesn't just focus on the negative structural aspects but she also includes multiple instances of how these workers create social solidarity and fight for social change in their favor, even when up against the odds. Her personal involvement in these social movements is an added benefit. These poor women of color both produce and reproduce globalization on the local and global scale. It leaves one with the belief that there is hope after all for a fair and just world. This book will make you reevaluate the 'promises' of free trade agreements and economic growth. As one group prospers there is surely another group being disadvantaged. Overall, this book is accessible especially in discussions on the feminization of labor and migration that is not cluttered with jargon. Go ahead and take a gamble. I hope that it will alter your social stance on these important issues as it reinforced mine.

During my vacation, I've been reading "Sweatshop Warriors: Immigrant Women Workers Take on the Global Factory" by Miriam Ching Yoon Louie. Miriam has a multi-decade organizing history with low income women of color. She is the co-founder of the Women of Color Resource Center in Berkeley, and author of an amazing trainers' manual called WEdGE" Women's Education in the Global Economy."
"Sweatshop Warriors" is one of my personal top ten books on radical organizing. It looks at transnational sweatshops through the eyes of Korean, Chinese and Mexican women forced to leave their homes of origin to take super exploited labor jobs in the world's sweatshops, ending up in the garment rows of NY, Oakland, LA, El Paso, etc. And there they have stood and fought. Against incredible odds, they've led international campaigns against the sweatshops industries, formed multi-purpose women workers centers, dealt with men in their families who were sometimes less than supportive of their activism, and learned to be world traveling organizers.
The author mixes political economy, analysis, history, and the herstories of the women organizers she has interviewed. Race/class/gender/nationality -- all come into play in the lives and organizing work of these incredible women.

I am using MongoDB 3 (3. 0. 8 ...

I am using MongoDB 3 (3.0.8 to be specific) as this book supposed to be using. Many of the examples do not work. I often google around and find equivalent command or syntactic errors, fix them, and make them work. Eventually I came to page 182, and I quote:

"Go ahead and mongoimport the MongoDB data from the twitter.tgz into your database:
$ mongoimport test.json -d test -c texttest"

What the heck?? Where did that come from in a sudden? What is twitter.tgz, where is test.json?? Have you ever said a single sentence about mongoimport so far?

Once you finish writing a book, please, please proof-read not just the syntax but also the semantics..

One of Two Great Songwriting Books!

Being a complete novice at songwriting and wanting to start NOW!, I bought this book at the same time as "Tunesmith" by Jimmy Webb. I batted 100%. Both are great! Jason Blume's book is a kickstart to jumping right into the process with specific directions and tips. Quick reading and a great reference for "do's and don't's". If you're curious about any aspect of songwriting, it all seems to be there from how to do it through how to sell it and spend the money. Also, the index is pretty thorough which is very important to me. Webb's book, on the other hand, also seems to cover it all but at more length and more depth. (I say "seems" because I haven't finished either book yet). I'm reading it at my leisure and supplementing the Blume reading... and working at my first song.

As a beginning songwriter, I found Jason's book to be a godsend for me. It's funny, clear and helpful reading. He gave a lot of hope and freedom for those who aren't musicians because he is the living proof of the diference between musicians and songwriters. Everything is OK: the order of the lessons, the examples, the stories and the exercises. You can read the entire book in few days because is so interesting, but you will comeback once and again, to learn more and more.

Having watched Jason's own professional journey since the mid-80s, I'm overjoyed at his success, and the fact that he shares all of the peaks and valleys of his career so honestly in this book! Jason doesn't sugarcoat anything about the music biz - but he keeps the joy and enthusiasm and LOVE for music intact as he tells what worked for him, what DIDN'T work - and why! You won't find a more honest and revealing look at what it takes to be a hit songwriter today.

About the Author
Wally Rudolph, born in Canada to Jamaican parents, had a fifteen-year affair with illicit drugs that had him drop out of college and took him back and forth across the American Midwest. His fiction can be found in the literary journals Milk Money, Lines+Stars, Palooka, Slush Pile, The Brooklyner, and the anthology, Literary:Pasadena. A graduate of The Second City Conservatory in Chicago, he now resides with his family in Los Angeles. As an actor, he has appeared in numerous films and TV shows including Street Kings, Bang Bang, and Sons of Anarchy. Rudolph is also the author of Four Corners.

A mighty book about the power of hate, love, vengeance and family.

A mighty book set on the streets of a violent Chicago that for all it’s darkness leaves you believing in redemption (hopefully) as it explores the power of hate, love, vengeance and family ties.

We have a tattoo artist who does more free work covering up prison tattoos than commissions; a cop who lived by the "Chicago problems, Chicago solutions" motto dealing with grief and retirement; sisters, each struggling in their own way, trying to find a place in the world that’s less difficult; a priest running a shelter for those seeking a new life and redemption— all destined to collide.

This was one of those dark, violent, seedy books that no matter how much I might fear what happened next I couldn’t stop turning the page.

Great story + incredible characters = New favorite writer

I finished Rudolph's Four Corners over the holidays and was excited to dig into this. To be honest, I didn't know what to expect as the book started, and I worried that it wasn't for me because it started from the perspective of an older cop, but then the story introduced these two sisters and...All I can say is that if you've ever had a sister (or even a brother) and had contentious relationship with them, this book will hit close to home. The way this book talks about family and grieving is the most realistic thing I've ever read. I found myself crying multiple times. But the story -- THE STORY IS CRAZY GOOD! I don't want to give anything away, but as soon as you think, you know what's going on...you don't :0

Mighty Mighty was one of my favorite books of 2015. It has it all: relevance, romance, family, crime and redemption. Wally Rudolph has a unique and powerful voice, I love the way he develops characters while keeping you on the edge of your seat. Never a dull moment in Mighty Mighty.

Great book to discuss STDs with your children

Yes, I would rather be uncomfortable and feel awkward talking about this with my kids than have them hear it from their friends! I suggest every parent has the "sex talk" with their children while showing them this book page by page, like I did. Do not be discouraged by the eye rolling, the attitude, or even the gagging expression from your kids, because this book does create an impression for them to at least "THINK" about the consequences of sex. Believe it or not, kids do listen to what you say to them. This book is now available in my home where my kids can get to it whenever they want to learn more about STDs (complete with nasty gross pictures that I'm sure will make them think long and hard before they decide to engage in irresponsible sex!). Best textbook I ever bought!

I bought this book to use with my inmate substance abuse clients. I could not find an appropriate DVD to show sexually transmitted diseases but found this book. Several of the men stated they were going to remain celibate after having looked through the book!
